Chow Mein in the 1920's
Heat 3 T. Oil in a saucepan over high heat, and saute 1 c. sliced beef or chicken until brown. Add 1 c. sliced celery, 1 c. diced onion, and 1 c. water. Stir and cook until tender, covered. Add 1 can of Chinese vegetables, 3 T. Flour mixed with ½ c. water, 2 T. Soy sauce, 1 t. salt, ½ t. paprika, and 1/4 t. celery salt. Serve on rice and top with 1 can Chinese fried noodles.
