Restaurant Review

Jin Wah Seafood Restaurant (Portland OR)

(510) 788-3113    8001 SE Powell Street,
Portland, OR 97206

This restaurant says it is Chinese and Vietnamese; the chef is Vietnamese, but with Chinese heritage. This restaurant has a regular menu and a five-page additional one with twelve photographs per page of some of their Chinese dishes. We went there on the way to the airport and had little time, but we did learn that their food is wonderful; fine home-style Chinese cooking. We adored the Duck and Taro Root in Claypot, enjoyed the Goose Intestines and Black Beans, the Hong Kong Style Beef Stew, and delighted eating a perfectly made Steam Seabass. We should have. The sign over a cooler there touts this 'The best seafood restaurant.' Was told this quote from a reviewer, who should also try many of their non-seafood dishes, as we did.

The menu at Jin Wah is tri-lingual. The dishes are singularly delicious. And, like many Chinese restaurants in the area, the chopsticks are sickly green...anyone know why? One thing for sure, we need to return to try their catfish made in claypot. Last time we had that, licked our lips and ordered another.
