Restaurant Review

Spicy House (Flushing in Queens NY)

(718) 321-3688    43-18 Main Street,
Flushing, NY 11355

This fine Sichuan eatery open in Queens, is similar to others from this province. Their Xo Tongue and Triple (their spelling and capitalization), is delicious. So is Cumin Lamb. Clams Old Mother is not on the menu, but order this yummy rendition. Among the three dozen fish and meat dishes tried, there was only one loser, it was Pork Intestine in Fiery Sauce; too tough though tasty. For an outstanding winner, their Chong Qing Cold Noodle is a favorite; second only to their Smoky Green Hot Pepper w. Chili and Minced Garlic.

One word of warning, as in Chungdu or Chingking, expect piles of piquant peppers in most dishes. They raise the heat, but do not increase yours. Do as locals from Sichuan do, let them flavor the dish, not your mouth; set them aside.
