This is in the spot where M&T was. As the expression goes, it is spot on. Most still represent the cuisine of Qingdao, many better than before. The Fish in Metal Hot Pot is one of them. This fish could not be more tender, the Laoshan Mushroom with sliced Chicken is excellent, too. Another winner is Yu-Shiang Eggplant. The Cumin Eggplant is great, too. Fried and phenomenal, this item, seen on this page, has lots of yummy fried cumin seeds with lots of yummy flavor. Everyone at our table said these light crispy vegetable sticks could not have been better; we agree and now order them on every visit. Tofu with Preserved Egg wins on our dollar scale. Tendon with Scallions is terrific, Kidney and Jellyfish beautiful; the latter also seen on this page. So is Sea Cucumber and Elbow Pork Knee, not pretty by pretty terrific in taste and texture. Sea Salt Dried Fresh Fried Corn Bread may be an oxymoron in name, not so its taste and texture, both are beauties. Pork’s Head Meat with Cucumber may be a boney dish, but it is brilliant and inexpensive. Do not miss Spicy Quail; Chicken Feet with Pepper; Cashew Chicken; or the sauteed Leek with Intestines. Likewise the Lamb Chop. So far we have tried about one quarter of their menu offerings and are aching to raise that to fifty percent or better. The young lady who serves tries to be helpful, her Dad is the owner. He does double duty in the kitchen when busy, and is most accommodating, and one fine cook. These new folk and their kitchen staff do make some of the same dishes as the folks before; often with improvements. You might want to begin with them and then move on to their new dishes. With twenty-one lunch items, each but five bucks, and so many more things on the regular menu, new and old, we suggest you try as many as you can. Do enjoy them all, so far we are doing just that. |
