Restaurants awarded this honor for 2006 were selected by Chinese Restaurant News (c-r-n). The requirements they selected for this inclusion required registration, being in business for three years, and more. They were rated on six factors: 1) Food, 2) Service, 3) Sanitation and Food Safety, 4) Decor and Ambiance, 5) Awards, Reviews and Media Exposure, and 6) Customer Loyalty and Satisfaction. They asked their customers to evaluate these areas by ballot or on the web, each using a ten-point scale. Computer-generated tallies were reviewed by judges, and final selections awarded by c-r-n. Below, the independent restaurants are arranged alphabetically by state, then by restaurant name. The restaurants could be upscale, full service, dim sum, buffet, take-out, or any combination thereof. After them, Chinese restaurant chains are listed based upon sales volume and store units. Public voting for them was based upon service and food.
