Chinese Restaurant News recently announced winners in their Annual Top 100 Chinese Restaurants competition. As we have in the past, we report only those in the Top 100 Overall Excellence category.

These awards are the brainchild of the above named magazine founded in 1995 to inform Chinese speaking owners and operators and those that dine in their forty-six thousand plus Chinese restaurants. Most are not aware that these eateries, on an average day, serve two and a half million meals and gross more than twenty billion dollars in annual sales. They are the source of employment for more Chinese living in the United States than any other industry. With help from Martin Yan, Theresa Lin, Lee Anne Wong, and Derek Uehara, Chinese restauranteurs from around the world gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Venetian Hotel and Casino January 3-5, 2010. They celebrated this national event honoring the best in Chinese cuisine, and also learned of the other categories awarded honors such in categories such as Top Regional Cuisine, Asian Fusion and Healthy Menus categories, buffets, take-out eateries, newly established restaurants, etc.

Each year, those in the Overall Excellence Award category signifies recognition of the industry's highest standards. This year chefs from around the world attended, some even demonstrating their very special localized foods. This competition is open to the more than forty-six thousand Chinese eateries in the United States and its Top 100 Overall Excellence Awards are selected by local press, customers, and others (and not by this magazine nor its editor).
