This book is not a cookbook but a restaurant guide to six Chinese cities including Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guilin, and Hong Kong. It has no recipes, but does have pictures, from six to twelve per city, explaining and exploring where to find the best authentic local food, original snacks, and other real tastes of Chinese foods.
Every eatery has a color photograph of the main dining room, and one or more of some dishes they serve. They also have their addresses and phone numbers, and one or more sentences about them. They are worth seeking out and enjoying their food offerings.
